1. The Frog Blog - Colleen Madden.This is such a talented and funny lady. I don't know where she finds the time to create so much but I'm glad she does. I always look forward to seeing what she's working on next.

2.  Froggie Fridays- More froggie goodness from Colleen. =o)

3. Gaia Bordicchia- Another super talent who should be doing picture books!

4. Kathleen Rietz - It's just not fair to be sooo pretty and talented too...and really nice on top of that! But she is and I love her for it. 

5. Anette Heiberg -  A long time friend. I've so enjoyed seeing her career blossom.  As well as enjoying her fabulous work, she posts a new link each weekend to other great illustrator sites so you can continue blog hopping over there. Enjoy!

Board Books

I'm really excited because Soundprints has given me permission to share the cover art with you for the board books I'm working on.
Here are the mock ups that were used for the catalog... 

I ended up doing the illustrations with my "digital felt" style. Initially, I was hired to do them in traditional felt but after some deadline issues I asked if they would consider the digital. Thankfully, they did and we are all happy campers.

Here is a little bit closer view. I have had so much fun working on these.

This week over at the "Picture Book Junkies" we are celebrating the publication of , I Love You All Year Round,  a pop-up book illustrated by Alicia Padron.  We are so happy for her and her illustrations are simply adorable.

Phantom of the Opera- Las Vegas

 

 Emily has been asking to see "Phantom of the Opera" for a couple of years now so this weekend I surprised her with a girls night out at the Venetian to see it for her 12th birthday. She absolutely loved it and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting that is looking for a show to attend. The music and constumes were fabulous.

This is something I'm really going to miss when we leave...the shows.

Friday Five

Happy Friday to everyone. Hope you're all doing well. Things are okay on this end.
I'm going to be burning the midnight oil for a few days getting some illustration work done but I'm not complaining!

1.  Here is a file from the vault. When I first started illustrating, I used gouache and pastel pencils. I'm not ready for summer to be over!

2. Here is a portion of the fish illustration I recently finished. This is just a small clip of a 20 x 30 poster.

3. My good bud Sheri won this adorable guy at a conference a few weeks back and I've been meaning to share him with you. He will be my studio mascot when I get settled in Illinois. Thanks, sweetie!
