Yoohoo...hello....
Do you all remember me? I took an unplanned blog break, although I have been posting weekly at the PBJ's blog. The summer is flying by like crazy. The kids start back to school on the 25th! Unreal.
If you're still visiting and reading, I'm afraid I don't have too much exciting to share. I have had plenty of time between revisions to create new pieces but I just haven't "felt" like it. Isn't that horrible? I just don't feel all that inspired. "Chilling out" has been more fun.
1.
Here is a partial sketch from a poster I am doing for an educational publisher. I may ask if they'll let me finish it digitally. We'll see.
I am so loving this show. Because of it I discovered Victoria Stilwell who is one of the judges.
If you like the "Dog Whisperer", you'll really like her own show.
Thanks to her, I'm now using the "gentle leader" and it has improved my walking experience with Valentine 100%.
You'd never guess here but she is a puller and a lunger and I had to stop taking her because it stressed me out so much. Not anymore. If you have the same problem, give it a try. They sell at your local pet store. We enjoy a walk every night now.
Speaking of doggies, Lily had her first visit to the groomer this week for a "bath and tidy". =O)

Illustrators, check this out. This might appeal to you.
5. Yesterday, we finally found out where we are being assigned and it wasn't where we had hoped. (Tampa Bay for those of you that were trying to guess.)
We are heading to ...
Well, actually about 20 miles from St.Louis, in Illinois. Anyone from that area? I need to start scoping out the scbwi. It looks like we'll be located on the border of Missouri and Illinois so I'll probably join both. We'll be heading that direction in October so there's a lot to get done...fast!
Have a great weekend all. I'll try not to take a month to post again!
Hey Roz,
I live about 4 hours east of St. Louis in the greater Kansas City area of Missouri but I do come down almost every year in November for the SCBWI conference in/near St Louis. They have a very active group there. In fact, I am speaking at the next one in November.I hope we get to finally meet! :o)
Good luck with your move and sorry you didn't get Tampa.

That's great, Phyllis! I'll look forward to getting to meet you in person.
I think we are going to enjoy it there once we get settled.
I was just really looking forward to living near a beach again. :o/

Great to see you back blogging! I've been away from my blog too...just got caught up in too much work this summer... I've also been watching Greatest American Dog...I'm a huge dog lover. I played golf with the mother of JD and Galaxy in Bend, Oregon, so I'm hooked. I didn't realize Victoria had a show. I'll have to look for it....Animal Planet, right?
Good luck with your move! and love your postcard on PBJunkies. Glad you put the Whale on it. Love that piece!

I LOVE Victoria too Rozzie!!!
I always watch her show and now I watch the Greatest American Show with the kids. It's awesome.
I'm such a dog lover and love to learn new ways of training. She uses very gentle methods all the time. And yes the gentle leader does work. I've used it several times. There was a Rottweiler mix at the shelter once that would pull like crazy, I used it on him just a couple of times and it was like magic.. he didn't pull anymore.
About your move, even though is not Tampa like you wanted, at least the guessing part os over. You know now and I'm sure you'll have a great stay there. See? already conferences popping near by.. you lucky girl.. I may have to see a way to convince my hubby to move to the States :o)

I love Victoria Stillwell too. (Not as much as Cesaer Milan - for obvious reasons) My dog, Buddy, was a shelter dog who had been abused, so he had very little social skills. Victoria's training methods have helped him feel calmer and more comfortable around other dogs when we go for walks. (However, I've tried the Gentle leader, and he hates it.) Giving him chicken or other treats when we see male dogs along our walks have helped a ton - there is no more barking & freaking out as before. Plus, it always makes me feel better about Buddy when I watch because he's not nearly as spoiled as the little dogs on the show. :)

Hhhhmmm...I was excited to see that you are moving to IL....but I am WAY up here just north of Chicago. You will have to tell me where exactly you are moving to. Probably a good 3 or 4 hours from me....but maybe not. I go to SCBWI meetings up this-a-way, but I know the Champaign-Urbana area of IL (much closer to where you will be) is very active in SCBWI.
