Friday Five

1. The kids have three half days next week and then school's out for summer. I have a deadline to work on but I really feel like I should take advantage of my last full day of "freedom". What should I do?  Bookstore, movie, take a nap? =O)

It was my birthday on Monday and the pbj's helped celebrate with me. Check out their delightful birthday illustrations.

3. I wasn't going to share this until it's official but one of my dreams might be coming true. I have always wanted to illustrate a board book and I have been asked to illustrate two of them. Contracts are still under negotiation and one of the main people that approves these things is at the BEA conference so I won't know more until after that. Until I have a contract I won't feel like it's mine so I'm trying not to get too excited.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

How DARE I only offer a biscuit when there's jerky treats in the pantry.

5... days until hubby is home. You think I can lose 5 pounds before then?  I don't either. =o)

Hey Diddle Diddle

Hope everyone is having a great week. We here in Las Vegas are experiencing record breaking heat.Yesterday we reached 108 degrees! ACK! The air conditioner is already working overtime and it's not even officially summer yet.

I'm waiting on the okay to move forward on the bee assignment so I took the opportunity to play on another illustration.  I would love to be asked to do an alphabet or baby nursery rhyme book so I'm trying to add more images like that to my portfolio.

T is for Train

My rep really liked  "W is for Whale" and asked for a companion piece so here it is. This time I wanted to try adding buttons. I just scanned some real ones in and made them the color I needed.

A day in the life- MEME

Holli has started a meme asking people to share a day in their life.

When all the planets are aligned and no one is sick and there aren't tons of errands to do, this is what a typical day looks like for me...

5:45am

Our day starts early for school.

6:45 – 7:45 am
School bus picks up Kevvy and I drive Emily and Jesse to school.

8:00am – 9am

My staple breakfast: Shredded Wheat

I love it warmed in the microwave for 1 minute. YUM.

Usually I catch up on one tivo recorded show (ie: Tudors, Top Chef, Last Restaurant Standing)

Write emails, read or write blog posts.

10:00 – 11:00 exercise

Usually mon, wed, Friday I go for a 3 to 4 mile jog.

Otherwise I’m tidying and catching up on dishes/laundry.

If I'm on a tight deadline, the chores wait and I get straight to illo work and fit it in later.

11:00am – 2:00 pm

I really enjoy listening to music while I work so I usually have Itunes playing on the computer most days.

If the workload is quiet, I like to take myself to a movie once a week.

2:15pm – 4:00pm
Kids start arriving home. Jesse babysits Kevvy while I pick up Emily. We head over to the grocery store to pick up dinner ingredients and afternoon snack.

Snack: Starbucks

We have a starbucks in our Albertsons. NICE!

My "regular" is a tall , peppermint white choc mocha.

4:00pm – 6:00 pm
Multi- task

work, email, spend time with kids

6:00pm – 7:00pm

Feed the doggies

Emily and I cook dinner listening to Ipod set up in kitchen. We've been eating a lot of take out while "daddy's" been away,though. (He's on military duty away for 2 months)

We eat dinner together.

Clean up dishes

7:00pm- 8:00pm

My cuddle time on couch with Kevvy . He’s been in his wheelchair all day so time on the couch reading books is his favorite. (For new readers, Kev is 13yrs with severe cerebral palsy)

8:00 pm

Bedtime for Kevvy.
Jess and Em stay up later with me.

8:00 to 10:00pm 

TV time with kids.. Our favorite night is Tuesday and Thursday.  Hell’s Kitchen, American Idol, The Office.

I take a bath and read for 15-20 minutes.
Reading "LIfe of Pi" right now.

10:00 pm 

Yawn yawn, hug hug,  say our “I love’s you’s”

….Snore.

Friday Five

Happy Friday to all, hope you had a productive week.

1.

We found out a couple of weeks ago that we will be moving in October. The military is sending us to New Mexico. Can you believe we will be living minutes away from my parents?? This is wonderful! Of all the places that we could have been sent...

2.

I'm nervous and excited. The client I'm working for right now really likes the digital felt style and wants me to use it for this current project. Yes!  I will be buying an external hard drive this weekend for extra back up.

3.

Spongebob is still my fave-rave but Amy Poehler's, Mighty B is running a close second.

4.

I want David Cook to win. Jason, honey, you need to step it up.

5.
