All is right with the world when I really get in to a piece I'm working on.
Recently I posted that Emma Felt had found a literary/art agent. I have finally finished the two new finished illustrations to go along with my revamped dummy book and it's ready to go out the door. Wish us luck!

Here is a shot during the "fiddle phase" of one of the two finals. This is the part of the process I dislike the most because the pieces are SO very fiddly and more often than not I was too ambitious with the detail.
But after some fiddling and procrastination (ie: hey let's take pictures for the blog!), it starts to come together. I learn something new with each piece I do. This one, I learned that I really enjoy using muslin as a background. 
OH! And I wanted to also show you all a new addition to my collection of timers. Isn't this cute? It actually rings like a phone when time is up.
Finally managing to participate in Studio Friday again. Getting things ready for our upcoming move has been all encompassing!
This weeks theme is "favorite book". To be honest , I was really stumped because I have so many. Then I realized that my favorite is actually my Sketchbook.
Over the past few years , my sketch book has been used for more than just drawing. It serves as a phone book, "to do" list, journal and oh yeah...sketches are sandwiched in too.
I try to date everything and stay in page order so I can see how my ideas/thoughts evolve. It's fun to sift through the pages later and see where I've been and who I've become.
So what's the latest entry in my sketch/diary? With the move, summer vacation and trying to get some illustration work done, this is what I doodled last week. I'm feeling a bit better now, though. Things are starting to fall into place. =O)
Aren't these painted hands fabulous?! I have never seen this before. I would love to give credit where credit is due but I can't find the source of these pictures other than the "schroder" logo at the bottom of the photos. These were sent to me by a 'forward' email.
To you that live in London or have friends and family there....loving prayers go out to you most sincerely.
I have family and friends there and fortunately no one was harmed.

Actually this is a portion of a portfolio reject. He's actually looking at a moon wearing a nightcap but the moon is awwwwful.
It's a shame when you finish a piece and it doesn't come out the way you had hoped, isn't it?
